In the last week, I have had a paper accepted to a journal, and a scholarly presentation and a panel discussion accepted to a conference!
World Dance Alliance – Americas 2013 Festival and Conference
The same organization, the WDA, also publishes the Journal of Emerging Dance Scholarship. My paper and corresponding presentation, focused on 1960s America, discuss how jazz dances’ correlation to social dance trends has been a point of its devaluation in concert dance. The panel, involving nine other jazz dance rockstars, discusses definitions and categorization of styles of jazz dance, and how this information may be implemented in choreographic, scholarly and educational practices.
I am excited to be building and flexing these parts of my dance muscles, and to travel to Vancouver for the conference in late July. Now, on to edits and finding travel funding . . . !!!
Wonderful news! Congratulations.
