I consider thinking, writing and presenting about dance to be vital ways to better understand its importance. In doing so, I’m particularly interested in considering the influence of jazz and American vernacular social dance ideas upon education and presentational dance. My recent activity in this area includes the publishing of a jazz dance teaching article in the Journal of Dance Education (published full text/ PDF) and presenting at conferences including Danny Buraczeski’s 2016 Symposium of Teaching Jazz Dance and the 2017 National Dance Education Organization Conference. For further details or to access articles and proceedings, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

As writing has always been an important creative tool for me, I’ve also kept a journal practice since 8th grade and a personal blog since 2008 as a slightly more public place to process and ideate.
